Yesterday in my seminar we dissected/performed an autopsy on a fetal pig! Although it was sad to see the cute little piglet go, it was an educational experience. We determined that the piglet was a female and then by measuring her length, found out that she was about 115 days old. We located all of the organs and weighed & measured them – just like a real autopsy! Next, we looked at the muscles and bones, including the skull. Yes, it was rather gruesome but if I want to be a Medical Examiner, I might as well get used to it..right??
I found a cool online virtual dissection for those who are interested! Warning: It gets a bit graphic. Click here
